These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the ByteFold iPhone app and related services. By using ByteFold, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
1. Eligibility
You must be legally able to accept these Terms. ByteFold is not directed to children under 13, or the higher minimum age required by applicable law. If you use ByteFold on behalf of an organization, you confirm that you are authorized to act for it.
2. What ByteFold provides
ByteFold lets you select photos, videos, and files; prepare a separate compressed or original-quality output copy; save it; send it to a nearby device; or upload it to create a Secure Link. The app can also receive nearby files and download files shared by link. Supported formats, compression results, speed, availability, and feature limits depend on the file, device, network, subscription, and service configuration. An estimated output size is not a guarantee.
3. Apple account and ByteFold account
Sign in with Apple may be offered for account-based services such as Secure Links. You are responsible for access to your Apple Account and for activity using your ByteFold account. Signing out removes the local ByteFold sign-in credential. The Account screen also offers an account-deletion request. Deleting your ByteFold account does not cancel an Apple subscription or erase copies other people have already downloaded.
4. Your content
You keep your rights in the photos, videos, files, names, and other content you select or share ("Your Content"). You are responsible for having permission to process and share it, choosing recipients and link settings, and reviewing an output copy before relying on it. You grant ByteFold only the permission needed to process, store, and deliver Your Content for the feature you choose, including sending it to the nearby recipient or storing an output copy for a Secure Link.
Do not use ByteFold to upload or distribute unlawful, abusive, malicious, or infringing content; violate another person's privacy; bypass access controls; or interfere with the app, its users, or its services.
5. Nearby transfer and Secure Links
Nearby transfer requires compatible devices, local-network permission, and an available connection. You should check the receiving device before sending.
A Secure Link uploads the output copy you selected. An original-quality output can contain the same information as the original. The app offers link expiry choices of 1, 7, or 30 days and optional password protection. Anyone with an unprotected link may be able to access the file while it is active. Keep a password separate from the link if the content is sensitive. Expiry limits access but does not recall files already downloaded by recipients or necessarily erase every server copy immediately. Link availability may be affected by outages, abuse controls, or legal requirements.
6. ByteFold Pro subscriptions
ByteFold Pro is an auto-renewable subscription purchased through Apple's App Store. The current app presentation shows:
- Weekly: US$4.99 per week; a three-day free trial only if it is offered to you by Apple at checkout.
- Monthly: US$12.99 per month; no free trial is advertised for this plan.
The subscription price, currency, taxes, billing period, and any trial or offer displayed by Apple at checkout control. A trial, if offered, converts to the paid subscription shown at checkout unless you cancel it in time. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled through your Apple Account subscription settings. Apple advises cancelling a free or discounted trial at least 24 hours before it ends if you do not want it to renew. Deleting the app or your ByteFold account does not cancel your subscription.
Apple handles billing, cancellation, and refund requests under its rules. ByteFold can verify purchase information and offer Restore Purchases where available. See Apple's cancellation instructions and Apple's subscription information.
7. Intellectual property
ByteFold's software, design, name, and other app materials remain ours or our licensors'. You receive a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the app for its intended purpose on Apple devices you own or control, subject to these Terms and applicable law. You keep ownership of Your Content.
8. Third-party services
ByteFold uses Apple services for sign-in, purchases, and device features, and a remote service and Bunny.net for Secure Link storage and delivery. Their availability and separate terms may affect the features you use. The ByteFold Privacy Policy explains related data handling. Apple's standard licensed application agreement may also apply to an App Store download.
9. Availability and responsibility
We may update, change, suspend, or discontinue features as the service evolves. Keep your original files and verify important output copies. We do not guarantee a particular compression ratio, uninterrupted access, permanent storage, or successful delivery to every recipient.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, ByteFold is provided without warranties of uninterrupted operation or fitness for a particular purpose. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from use of the app to the extent such liability may lawfully be excluded. These Terms do not remove rights or remedies that applicable consumer law does not allow us to exclude.
10. Suspension and termination
You may stop using ByteFold at any time. We may restrict access when reasonably necessary to address misuse, security threats, legal obligations, or a serious breach of these Terms. Account deletion and link expiry do not automatically cancel subscriptions, remove copies saved outside ByteFold, or eliminate records we must retain for legal reasons.
11. Changes and contact
We may revise these Terms as features or requirements change. We will update the date above and give additional notice where required. The revised Terms apply to future use from their effective date.
